Solar Home Lighting System aims at providing Solar electricity for operating lights for specified hours of operation per day. It consists of CFL luminaries, battery, an SPV modules, charge controller and necessary wires, switches, fuses, etc. 

The CFL will be housed in an assembly suitable for indoor use, with a reflector on its back. The light output of the lamp is around 900 Lumens. The Battery will be similar to that used in street lighting system but with less backup of about 3 to 4 Hours .

The PV module is minimum of 37 Watts for higher capacity systems the modules are used in multiple of 37 watts. These modules are mounted on metallic frame structure with corrosion resistant paint fixed on roof or wall of the house. The charge controller again provides protection against no load & short circuit conditions, battery over charge and deep discharge.

The standard system consists of 3 luminaries and when more number of points are required either a new system can be designed or multiples of 3 luminary system can be used. Normally it is advised to have multiple systems as backup in place of single system to avoid inconvenience during maintenance or breakdown.
